Monash Catholic Community organized a retreat day at St Dominic’s on Saturday 1st of October. The punch line was “Go MAD” with the Dominicans. Not that we endorse people going mad. The Acronymn “MAD” stood for make a difference, and this set the theme for the day with activities, prayer, reflection, praise and worship confession and Mass.

The day start at 10am, with some ice breakers, like writing several things about you on a piece of paper and scrunching it up and throwing it around the room, so someone else will introduce you. Some wrote too much, some wrote too little, so it was a very light hearted fun exercise. After getting to know a little about each, it was followed with a short session of praise and worship led by Justin Hau.

Everyone was given a bag of goodies containing a notepad and pen(for taking valuable notes), chocolate (for a sugar boost to keep attention) and an outline of the program and hymns.

The three sessions that were run were
Providing Reasons
Exploring Directions
Prayer, study and devotionsThese were given by Fr Dom Murphy OP, Fr Anthony Walsh OP, and Fr Laurie Foot OP the chaplain of Monash

With one session given by Br Michael Kisu on making rosary beads.

Lunch was a generous serving of pizza’s and pasta’s with most of the Student Brothers coming down to share the meal and socialize. Mass was held in the afternoon.
